We were kept very busy during the first month of this year with the high winds and extensive rain taking it’s toll on many trees and fences. We were asked to attend an emergency job, storm damage at Marsh Barton Trading Estate in Exeter where a wind blown tree had fallen into a companies car park. There is precious little on road car parking in this very busy and large estate so it is essential for businesses to be able to access their staff car parks. With this in mind we attended on a Sunday so that by the return to work on Monday the area was safe and cleared for the staff to park.
Trees can sustain extensive damage and be left vulnerable & even dangerous as a result of the effects of high winds during a storm. The decision to try and save a storm damaged tree will depend on whether the extent of the damage leaves it hazardous and unsafe. A heavy prune and removal of damaged branches may be an option rather than a full dismantle and we have the experience to advise you as to the best course of action.
Storm damage is not always just restricted to winter- heavily saturated soil combined with the high winds that often accompany summer storms can also cause root plates to lift or fail and branches to weaken. Sometimes it is possible to pre-empt or minimise damage by highlighting potentially hazardous trees that may be in need of attention, especially if they could damage property etc. If you have concerns about your trees it may be best to ask a trained arborist for an assessment and advice. At Chestnut Trees we are always happy to come and meet with you at a mutually convenient time to discuss your needs. This is a always a free service, and we will also provide you with a free quotation without any obligation should you wish us to. Always use a qualified and insured tree company for your tree works for your peace of mind and safety.
